Summary
Companion Animal Partners - Richmond, VA - is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to serve multiple clinics in our Richmond network of veterinary practices, including Fan Veterinary Clinic, Town & Country Veterinary Clinic, and Lucks Lane Veterinary Clinic. Our Regional LVT rotates throughout our clinics to fill scheduling gaps, offer additional support, and enhance our patient care.

SCHEDULE
Full Time or Part Time
Monday - Friday
SKILLS
Handling and restraint of dogs and cats.
Perform patient treatments.
Perform initial evaluation and triage of patients upon admission.
Prepare animals for examinations, diagnostics, and surgery.
Patient examinations, auscultation of heart and lung sounds, determine normal/abnormal TPRs.
Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms.
Laboratory procedures including but not limited to: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, microbiology, blood chemistry, and fecals.
Diagnostic imaging and implementing safety protocols of fellow staff members.
Surgical assisting; preparing and maintaining the surgical environment in order to ensure an asepsis environment for both patient and personal safety.
Anesthesia monitoring and recording of patients.
Endotracheal intubation for patients.
Nursing skills including: restraining patients, administering medications PO/IV/SUBQ/IM/ IO, applying and maintaining bandages, providing high quality physical and psychological needs of the patient during any hospitalization stay or visit.
Proficient in dental prophylaxis.
Pharmacy and pharmacology knowledge including: preparing and dispensing medications, calculating dosages, recognizing adverse reactions, knowledge of regulations regarding the safe handling of biohazardous materials.
Clean and maintain in optimum condition of operation all instruments and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT) in Virginia.
Flexible schedule.
Must possess strong communication skills, good judgment and be able to manage stressful situations.
At least 2-3 years of small animal experience
Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
